View from the Kapuzinerberg in Salzburg (Aquarelle)

The Kapuzinerberg is one of the Salzburg city mountains and rises on the right bank of the Salzach River. The locals also affectionately refer to it as their “local mountain”. After an easy hike, you will be rewarded with a beautiful view of the Mozart city of Salzburg. Even back then, the artist appreciated the wonderful view of the old town and the Hohensalzburg fortress from there when creating the picture. Today you can choose from these really nice postcards in our shop.

About the artist:

Leopold Forsthuber (1927-2011) inherited his artistic streak from his father, who came from an old Salzburg painter family. The well-known painter Prof. Alfred Deggendorfer taught him the basics of painting and drawing as early as his apprenticeship. Even back then, he was versatile, as he had completed a monumental mural by Prof. Deggendorfer on a typical Salzburg house, the Oberlackengut, and restored it 27 years after completion in 1977. In later years he attended courses from Prof. Walter Boschan at the Salzburg Adult Education Center and deepened his work through the acquaintance with the painter Jung-Ilsenheim. Leopold Forsthuber became known for his wonderful watercolors and drawings, especially from Salzburg and Austria.

Extract from a description about Leopold Forsthuber: He got his ideas from nature, from his travels, from his beloved mountains, in which he spends every free minute and which repeatedly gives him incentives for new motifs. The trees in particular – his special passion – have always been and continue to find great admiration.”
